Quinton de Kock Reaches 7,000 ODI Runs, Second-Fastest to the Mark

The South Africa opener achieved the landmark on return from ODI retirement during a series decider in Faisalabad.

  • De Kock scored 53 off 70 balls in the third ODI after knocks of 63 and an unbeaten 123 in the first two matches of the series.
  • He reached 7,000 ODI runs in 158 innings, the second-fastest behind Hashim Amla, overtaking Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli on the innings-based list.
  • He became the fifth South African to reach the milestone and moved past Graeme Smith into fifth on the country's all-time ODI run-scorers list.
  • His ODI tally now stands at 7,009 runs at an average of 46.72 and a strike rate of 96.47, with 22 centuries, 32 fifties and a best of 178.
  • South Africa were dismissed for 143 after a 72-run opening stand with Lhuan-dre Pretorius, as Abrar Ahmed took 4 for 27 with support from Mohammed Nawaz and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
