Overview
- Quintana Roo became the first Mexican state to formalize a Collaboration Agreement with 105 newly elected first-instance judges, signed on July 22 by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and Tribunal Superior de Justicia President Heyden Cebada Rivas.
- The agreement launched a mandatory induction course for the judges, with 52 participants from Cancún, 28 from Chetumal, 14 from Playa del Carmen and 11 joining virtually from other municipalities.
- A Technical Commission has been established to oversee execution of the pact and to coordinate the design and implementation of comprehensive training and updating programs through the Judicial University.
- State institutions including the executive branch, SEGOB, SEMUJERES, DIF Quintana Roo, UAQROO and the judiciary signed a parallel accord to streamline legal processes and strengthen social accountability.
- The initiative seeks to professionalize the judiciary, boost transparency and ensure more accessible, socially focused justice in line with Mexico’s broader judicial reform agenda.
