Quincy Promes Arrested in Dubai for Cocaine Trafficking

The former Dutch international faces extradition to the Netherlands following his arrest at their request.

Quincy Promes, a former Dutch international and Spartak Moscow forward, has been arrested in Dubai at the request of the Netherlands for cocaine trafficking.
Promes was sentenced in absentia last month to six years in prison by an Amsterdam court for his involvement in cocaine smuggling.
The Netherlands will seek Promes' extradition following his arrest through a Red Notice, a global request for law enforcement to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition.
In addition to the drug trafficking case, Promes was also sentenced in absentia last year to 18 months in jail for assault, related to a 2020 incident where he stabbed a cousin in the knee.
Promes has denied all charges and has filed an appeal in both cases.
