Quess Corp Targets Women’s Early Attrition in India’s Blue-Collar Sector

Quess Corp is deploying female liaison officers at manufacturing sites to address commute challenges that drive women’s workforce exits.

The report further revealed that 54 per cent of women who are currently working are unhappy with pay, and 80 per cent save less than ₹2,000 per month.

Overview

  • A joint Udaiti Foundation–Quess Corp report finds 52% of women with under one year of service plan to quit within 12 months, and 67% of those who left in the past six months remain unemployed.
  • Despite women’s share of blue-collar roles rising from 16% in FY21 to 19% in FY24, the sector’s projected growth to 70% of employment by 2030 risks undermining India’s demographic dividend if exits continue.
  • The Udaiti Foundation highlights systemic barriers—unreliable transport, workplace safety risks and family or health obligations—as key drivers of women’s early career exits.
  • To curb turnover, Quess Corp has introduced female liaison officers, migrant housing and DASH, a mobile salary-advance product for wage advances.
  • Access to provident fund coverage and performance-based incentives significantly boosts retention, with married women three times more likely to stay and incentives increasing tenure up to sevenfold.
