Querétaro Reclaims Four Sierra Gorda Hotels as Two Open Under New Leases

Under ten-year lease contracts, private firms pay 690,000 pesos monthly for reclaimed hotels to undergo upgrades ahead of their August launches

  • The state government regained real, material and legal possession of four hotels from Hoteles Misión on April 14 after litigation over unpaid debts dating to May 2023
  • Hacienda La Muralla and Hacienda Jalpan resumed operations under Opertur Turística’s management, with Casa Santa María and Hacienda Concá slated to open in August
  • Private operators have invested a combined 32 million pesos in renovations and will remit over 690,000 pesos per month in rent to the Gobierno de Querétaro
  • Of more than 120 employees formerly with Hoteles Misión, 49 have been rehired so far and the Secretaría del Trabajo plans further recontratations
  • The four properties offer 282 rooms across Amealco de Bonfil, Jalpan de Serra and Arroyo Seco and are projected to host 58,000 tourists and generate 175 million pesos in annual regional spillover
