Querétaro Ranks Second-Most Expensive State in Mexico, INEGI Says

INEGI's ENG 2025 shows a 32.6% year-on-year spending jump in Querétaro and the largest urban–rural gap, a sign of rising regional cost inequality.

Overview

  • Querétaro’s average household spending rose 32.6% from 2024 to 2025, an increase of 6,697 pesos per month compared with the prior year.
  • The state shows the largest urban–rural divide in the country with quarterly urban spending of 87,731 pesos versus 38,154 pesos in rural localities, a difference of 49,577 pesos.
  • Across Mexico the survey covers 38,348,376 households with an average of 3.4 members and finds a national monthly average of 19,310 pesos and wide gaps between the top and bottom states.
