  • Police say a 2018 Infiniti Q50 struck Alvarez while she stood in a designated safety zone between an exit ramp and the eastbound Nassau Expressway lanes just before 7:30 a.m. Friday.
  • The driver allegedly fled the scene and was later found at South Conduit Avenue and 134th Street, taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment, and placed in custody.
  • Police and media reports say the suspect faces multiple counts, including leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, assault, aggravated unlicensed operation, reckless driving, and related violations.
  • The NYPD Highway District Collision Investigation Squad is conducting a reconstruction to inform the ongoing case.
