Overview
- Valezka Echeverrias, 31, was arraigned Sept. 5 in Queens Supreme Court on charges that include sex trafficking, grand larceny, coercion, and promoting prostitution.
- Prosecutors allege she paid for a woman to travel from Mexico, then forced her into prostitution on Roosevelt Avenue under an $800 nightly quota and coerced her to rob clients.
- A separate 2023 incident charges Echeverrias with extorting another victim for $100 a day to work on Roosevelt Avenue while issuing threats of violence if she did not pay or sought help.
- The new indictment expands on a November 2024 case that alleged she forced a transgender woman into prostitution at the same location.
- If convicted on the top count, she faces up to 25 years in prison and is scheduled to appear before Justice Peter Vallone on Sept. 18.
