Overview

• At around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, 19-year-old Jayson Fernandez was stabbed in the abdomen on 93rd Street near 35th Avenue in Jackson Heights and collapsed on the roof of a nearby garage.
• Fernandez was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead.
• Police have made no arrests and describe the assailant as a hooded male who remains at large.
• Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood and collecting surveillance footage to identify the attacker.
• Law enforcement sources say the area’s reputation for drug activity is prompting a probe into a possible link with the Trinitarios gang.
