Overview

• Authorities say the shooting happened around 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 22 outside a Dunkin’ Donuts on Linden Boulevard in Cambria Heights.
• According to the district attorney, the 16-year-old approached on a scooter, a brief argument ensued, Samuel punched him, and the teen then shot Samuel in the head.
• Sanjay Samuel was taken to a local hospital and died two days later.
• The suspect turned himself in Friday, was arraigned Saturday, was remanded, and is due back in court Monday, facing up to 25 years to life if convicted.
• Officials have not released the defendant’s name because of his age, and Samuel’s family says his organs were donated as they await funeral arrangements.
