Queens Bus Network Redesign Enters Full Effect Sunday

MTA staff will guide riders at key stops for two weeks to navigate route changes, including a B62 extension, a new Q80 Local, plus updated schedules.

Overview

  • Phase two begins Sunday, with changes on routes that do not operate on Sundays taking effect Tuesday.
  • The B62 is being rerouted and extended along 21st Street to terminate at Astoria Houses, and the Q10 limited branch is replaced by the new Q80 Local with more frequent Lefferts Boulevard service plus overnight trips.
  • Impacts concentrate in Astoria, Long Island City, Jackson Heights, Ozone Park, Woodhaven, Howard Beach, and Far Rockaway.
  • The overhaul touches nearly every route in Queens and affects more than 800,000 daily riders, targeting better reliability, stronger connections, shorter waits, and faster bus speeds.
  • After full rollout the network totals 124 routes, including 94 local and 30 express, with an interactive map and the MTA app available to help plan trips.
