Queens Boy Found Alone Leads to Mother's Arrest on Robbery and Child-Endangerment Charges

ACS has custody of the children pending the criminal cases.

Overview

  • The non-verbal 5-year-old was found barefoot outside a Far Rockaway laundromat early Tuesday, evaluated at a hospital, and placed in ACS care.
  • Surveillance video and a tip helped police identify the child and locate the family residence, where additional children were found.
  • Police identified the mother as 30-year-old Leshea Harris, who prosecutors say took part in a Brooklyn push-in robbery involving pepper spray, an attempted stun gun use, and an assault.
  • Harris and alleged accomplice Amariah George were charged in Brooklyn with first-degree burglary, first-degree robbery, assault, and weapons counts.
  • Harris also faces four counts of reckless endangerment and four counts of endangering the welfare of a child in Queens, and she was granted supervised release after arraignment.
