Queen Margrethe II Abdicates, Son Frederik Ascends as Denmark's New King

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has abdicated the throne after a 52-year reign, citing health issues. Her eldest son, Frederik, has taken over as the new King.
The abdication marks the first time a Danish monarch has voluntarily stepped down in nearly 900 years.
Following her abdication, Queen Margrethe II is set to have her life story brought to screen in a TV series titled 'Af Guds nåde' (By the grace of God).
The TV series, developed by the makers of the hit Danish drama Borgen, will begin with Margrethe's birth in 1940 and be set at Amalienborg royal palace in Copenhagen.
The series is expected to be released next year, with no news yet on international distribution.
