Queen Camilla Completes Corsham’s 32,000-Poppy Tribute, Then Opens Bromham Community Hub

The town-led display for Remembrance 2025 honors the WWII anniversary with tens of thousands of knitted poppies from local groups across Britain plus overseas donors.

  • During a visit to Corsham on October 28, Queen Camilla laid a wreath at St. Bartholomew’s First World War memorial and fixed the final poppy to the church’s cascade.
  • The Poppy Project, launched by The Peacock WI Corsham with a 10,000 target, received just over 32,000 knitted and crocheted poppies after a nationwide and international response.
  • At the Martingate Shopping Centre Poppy Shop, the Queen joined a workshop, met volunteers, and watched demonstrations of how the poppies were made.
  • Large crowds lined the High Street as Elaine Dent, president of The Peacock WI, hosted the Queen’s tour and introduced community contributors.
  • After leaving Corsham, Queen Camilla officially opened Bromham’s new community hub, unveiled a plaque, and attended speeches by local leaders.
