Qualcomm Details Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and Snapdragon X2 at Summit 2025

Phones arrive within weeks, with X2 notebooks scheduled for the first half of 2026.

  • The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 features an octa-core Oryon CPU with two Prime cores up to 4.6 GHz, six cores up to 3.62 GHz, a 1.2 GHz sliced GPU, and a 3 nm Armv9 design.
  • Qualcomm says the new Hexagon NPU in the mobile chip delivers a 37% speed increase and is tuned for on-device, agentic AI that keeps data local.
  • Multimedia and connectivity additions include first-in-mobile AVP video support, a full computational‑video pipeline, XPAN lossless 24‑bit/96 kHz audio over 6 GHz, the X85 5G modem, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, external displays up to 8K/120 fps, and LPDDR5X up to 24 GB.
  • Initial 8 Elite Gen 5 devices are expected within weeks from partners named by Qualcomm, including Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, OnePlus and Sony.
