Quakertown Market Vendor Charged With Soliciting Sex From Teen Employees

Prosecutors urge anyone with similar experiences to contact Richland Township detectives.

Overview

  • Joseph Grossman, 36, owner of Poppy’s Peanuts at the Quakertown Farmers Market, was arrested in August and charged with promoting the prostitution of a minor and corruption of minors.
  • An affidavit alleges he inappropriately touched a 17-year-old employee, contacted her on Snapchat after she quit, and offered $100 then $300 plus marijuana for a sexual act during an after-hours meeting.
  • A second teenager reported similar conduct after the arrest became public, telling investigators he made vulgar comments, touched her hips and back, and offered drugs; prosecutors added corruption-of-minors counts.
  • Grossman posted 10% of a $250,000 bond and remains free on bail while continuing to operate his market shop, according to the district attorney’s office.
  • Detectives say the case began with a June ChildLine report from a victim’s mother, and the Bucks County DA believes more victims may exist, asking callers to reach Richland Township detectives at 215-536-9500.
