Overview

  • The EPC award covers a carbon compression and transport facility serving existing LNG plants at Ras Laffan Industrial City.
  • Captured CO2 will be compressed and dehydrated, then moved via an underground pipeline of about 20 kilometers to depleted gas fields for permanent storage.
  • The project is designed to capture up to 4.1 million tons of CO2 per year from Ras Laffan operations.
  • QatarEnergy frames the project as a key step in a wider CCS program following earlier initiatives begun in 2019.
