Qantas Names First Female CEO in Historic Appointment

Qantas Airways appointed Vanessa Hudson as its first female CEO,the airline announced Thursday.
Hudson, a longtime Qantas executive, will succeed Alan Joyce when he retires in November.
Hudson has held senior roles at Qantas, including chief customer officer and senior vice president for the Americas and New Zealand.
Her appointment makes her one of the few female executives leading an airline.
Qantas reported record first-half profits Thursday as travel demand rebounded.
