Russian President Vladimir Putin would prefer a US president who is 'more constructive' toward Russia and understands the 'importance of the dialogue' between the two countries, according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
Peskov did not comment on whether current US President Joe Biden or former President Donald Trump would fit this description.
Peskov accused the US and the West of prolonging the Russia-Ukraine war by providing financial aid to Ukraine.
Putin has announced that he will be seeking another term as president.
Putin has dismissed the need for a second wave of mobilization of reservists, stating that there are currently 617,000 Russian soldiers in Ukraine.
