Putin Aide Patrushev Meets India’s Doval as Russia and India Convene Maritime Consultations in New Delhi

The meetings frame coordination for the SCO agenda ahead of a possible December summit visit by Putin.

Nikolai Patrushev, a senior aide to President Vladimir Putin and chairman of Russia’s Maritime Board, met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and National Maritime Security Coordinator Vice Admiral Biswajit Dasgupta in New Delhi.
The Russian Embassy said Russia–India consultations on maritime cooperation are taking place in New Delhi today.
The Patrushev–Doval talks precede External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow, which the Russian Foreign Ministry said is set for Monday.
Moscow said the ministers will review upcoming political contacts and broader cooperation across the SCO, BRICS, the UN and the G20, with Jaishankar leading India’s delegation to the SCO Heads of State Council on November 17–18.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with President Vladimir Putin last month to review ties and indicated India expects to host him in December for the 23rd annual summit.
