Overview

• Washington, D.C.–based singer-songwriter Kris Kollins will make his professional stage debut as The Kid after being discovered on social media, with & Juliet alum Rachel Webb cast as Apollonia.
• Pulitzer Prize winner Branden Jacobs-Jenkins adapted the screenplay and Lileana Blain-Cruz will direct the pre-Broadway staging.
• The design team comprises choreographer Ebony Williams, scenic designer David Zinn, video and projection designers Nathan Amzi and Joe Ransom, costume designer Montana Levi Blanco, lighting designer Yi Zhao, sound designer Palmer Hefferan, hair and wig designer Cookie Jordan and stage manager Amanda Spooner.
• Jason Michael Webb serves as music supervisor with Prince collaborators Bobby Z and Morris Hayes advising on a score built entirely from the late artist’s original songs.
• The production will run at Minneapolis’s State Theatre from October 16 through November 16, 2025, with a Broadway transfer date still to be announced.
