PureGym Accelerates Global Rollout After Strong First Half

Management says cost-led scale and targeted product moves will fund faster expansion and a planned Dublin launch in early 2027.

Overview

  • The company reported on Thursday that first-half revenue rose about 6% to £393m and underlying earnings increased sharply, with membership up roughly 3% to 2.44 million.
  • PureGym opened 17 new sites in H1 and says it remains on track to reach around 60 new gym openings for the full year as rollout accelerates in the second half.
  • Chief executive Alex Wood said the group has identified a whitespace pipeline of more than 750 additional high-quality sites across existing markets and the Republic of Ireland.
  • The US business posted a notable turnaround after the Blink Fitness rebrand and integration, with regional profit up about 35% to £8.8m, which management cites as proof of its cross-border integration model.
  • The firm is widening its appeal with product changes such as 20 more dedicated women’s workout spaces in H1 (73 total in the UK) while lowering net leverage to improve balance-sheet flexibility for further growth.
