Purandar Airport Connectivity and Yerawada-Katraj Tunnel Projects Gain Momentum

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis approves major infrastructure plans to enhance connectivity in Pune and Western Maharashtra.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the preparation of a connectivity plan for the proposed Purandar Airport, linking it to Ahmednagar and Satara highways to streamline access for Western Maharashtra travelers.
A budget of ₹636.84 crore has been approved for the road network connecting Purandar Airport, with an emphasis on bypass routes to reduce city congestion.
In-principle approval was granted for a Yerawada-Katraj twin underground tunnel, expected to significantly ease traffic between Pune's northern and southern regions.
The Yerawada-Katraj tunnel will use modern twin-tunnel technology, with a detailed project report and feasibility study to follow, aiming for completion within three years.
Additional funds were allocated for other infrastructure projects, including ₹203 crore for cement roads in industrial zones and ₹1,526 crore for urban growth center road development.
