Punjab’s Anti-Drug Drive Hits 28,000 Arrests on Day 185

Daily statewide raids proceed under DGP Gaurav Yadav with oversight from a cabinet panel.

Since the launch of this anti-drug drive, Punjab Police, under the directions of Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, has been conducting operations daily simultaneously in all the 28 police districts of the state.

  • Punjab Police arrested 95 suspects on Day 185, registering 64 FIRs after raids at 359 locations across the state.
  • Recoveries from the latest operation included 433 grams of heroin, 29 kg of poppy husk, 910 intoxicant tablets or capsules, and ₹3.5 lakh in alleged drug money.
  • The cumulative arrest count since the March 1 launch stands at 28,025, reflecting continued daily enforcement.
  • Over 150 teams with about 1,200 personnel, supervised by 78 gazetted officers, executed Tuesday’s coordinated sweep and checked 381 suspicious individuals.
  • Six-month figures reported earlier listed 17,957 FIRs, 27,796 arrests, and seizures totaling 1,129 kg of heroin alongside other narcotics and ₹12.44 crore.
