Punjab Vigilance Files Massive Chargesheet Against Bikram Singh Majithia

The filing expands a drugs-linked disproportionate assets probe, names new individuals and companies, records an alleged Rs 719–737 crore money trail to be examined in a Mohali special court.

Overview

  • The Punjab Vigilance Bureau submitted the voluminous supplementary or final chargesheet on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with media reports putting the record at about 40,000 to 53,000 pages and investigators citing a roughly Rs 719–737 crore financial trail.
  • The chargesheet formally brings Majithia and 12 others into a disproportionate assets (DA) case, naming people including Gurmehar Singh and Gajpat Singh Grewal and about ten companies as part of the transactions under review.
  • Investigators say the evidence file contains bank records, property deeds and commercial filings and draws on statements from roughly 300 witnesses to map transactions dated 2007–2017 that the agency links to alleged laundering.
  • Majithia has rejected the allegations as false and political, has challenged the linking of DA claims to drug trafficking, and remains under criminal process after his June 25, 2025 arrest and the Supreme Court granting regular bail on February 2, 2026.
  • The filing has sharpened a political confrontation in Punjab ahead of the 2027 assembly polls and now moves into judicial scrutiny in a Mohali special court, where the agency’s assertions and documentary evidence will be tested in court.
