Punjab Transfers, Promotes 22 IPS Officers in Immediate Cadre Overhaul

The shake-up places reinstated district chiefs into new roles, concentrating leadership in Human Rights, ANTF and the Vigilance Bureau.

  • The Department of Home Affairs issued the orders on January 10 with immediate effect, directing all officers to join at once and noting approval by the competent authority.
  • Naresh Kumar moved from Human Rights to Special DGP at the Punjab State Human Rights Commission in Chandigarh, and Kaustubh Sharma was elevated to ADGP, Human Rights.
  • Jagadale Nilambari Vijay was promoted to IGP and assigned to lead the Anti-Narcotics Task Force with additional charge of the Faridkot Range, while Rajpal Singh took over as IGP, Crime with additional PAP-2 duties.
  • Tarn Taran SSP Ravjot Kaur Grewal, reinstated on January 9 after a November 8 suspension by the Election Commission, was placed at the Punjab Vigilance Bureau, and Maninder Singh was reinstated and posted as SSP Rupnagar.
  • District postings shifted with Jyoti Yadav named SSP Bathinda, Darpan Ahluwalia appointed SSP Khanna, and a slate of officers promoted to DIG and other senior roles, including Rishabh Bhola becoming Staff Officer to the DGP on promotion to SP.
