Overview
- The pilot will distribute 1,100 Chinese-made electric taxis across the province, allocating 700 to fleet owners and 400 to individual operators with 100 reserved for women.
- Demand exceeds the available quota, so final selection will be made through electronic balloting before invitees are asked to deposit the required down payment.
- Successful applicants who pay on time are expected to receive vehicles within three to four months of the deposit.
- Applicants must contribute 30% equity, with government support covering part of that share—50% for individual men, 60% for women—and fleet subsidies set at 30–40% based on fleet size.
- Financing goes up to Rs6.5 million per vehicle with a five-year term and three-month grace period, vehicles remain registered in the Bank of Punjab’s name until repayment, and each taxi includes tracking, a panic button, and a six-year or 300,000 km battery and motor warranty.
