Overview

  • Punjab reported 587 farm fire cases on Friday, marking the highest single-day count this season.
  • Sangrur, Ferozepur, and Tarn Taran are the top contributors to the recent spike in stubble burning incidents.
  • The total number of farm fires this year has reached 3,537, a significant drop from 9,594 cases by the same time last year.
  • Authorities have taken strict actions, suspending officials and registering cases against those failing to prevent farm fires.
  • Despite a reduction in farm fire contributions, Delhi's air quality remains poor, primarily due to local pollution sources.
