Punjab Seals Pact to Launch ₹10 Lakh Universal Cashless Health Cover on Jan 15

Insurer cover applies to the first ₹1 lakh per family, with the state funding approved costs up to ₹10 lakh.

Overview

  • The agreement with United India Insurance was signed by State Health Agency CEO Sanyam Aggarwal and UIIC Executive Director Mathew George in the presence of Health Minister Dr Balbir Singh.
  • Coverage applies to all 65 lakh families without income caps, with eligibility verified through Aadhaar and voter ID.
  • United India Insurance will underwrite ₹1,00,000 per family, while the State Health Agency will pay claims from ₹1,00,000 to ₹10,00,000 on a trust basis.
  • Care will be available at 824 empanelled hospitals, including 212 public, eight Government of India facilities and over 600 private hospitals, covering about 2,200 procedures under HBP 2.2.
  • Enrolment will run via Common Service Centres and more than 9,000 special camps, a helpline is planned, and most beneficiaries are expected to receive MMSY health cards within three to four months.
