Punjab Police Seize 8 Smuggled Pistols and Arrest Two in Amritsar

  • Punjab Police arrested two individuals, Jagjit Singh and Gurwinder Singh, in Amritsar for possession of eight smuggled pistols from Pakistan.
  • The seized weapons include four Glock pistols (Austria-made), two Turkish 9mm pistols, and two X-Shot Zigana .30 bore pistols, along with 10 cartridges.
  • The arrests were made during a counter-intelligence operation in Nurpur Padhri, where the suspects were awaiting another operative to deliver the weapons.
  • Preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of a Pakistan-based smuggling network, with the module's kingpin coordinating via encrypted apps.
  • Police have registered a case under the Arms Act and are actively working to trace the network’s backward and forward linkages.
