Punjab Police Seize 8 Smuggled Pistols and Arrest Two in Amritsar

An intelligence-led operation uncovered a Pakistan-linked arms smuggling network, with efforts underway to apprehend the module’s kingpin.

Punjab Police arrested two individuals, Jagjit Singh and Gurwinder Singh, in Amritsar for possession of eight smuggled pistols from Pakistan.
The seized weapons include four Glock pistols (Austria-made), two Turkish 9mm pistols, and two X-Shot Zigana .30 bore pistols, along with 10 cartridges.
The arrests were made during a counter-intelligence operation in Nurpur Padhri, where the suspects were awaiting another operative to deliver the weapons.
Preliminary investigations revealed the involvement of a Pakistan-based smuggling network, with the module's kingpin coordinating via encrypted apps.
Police have registered a case under the Arms Act and are actively working to trace the network’s backward and forward linkages.
