Overview

  • On May 26, Faridkot police issued a legal request to Tinder for subscriber details, phone numbers, email IDs, IP logs since January 2019, chat history, media files and contact lists from the ‘Amrit Sandhu’ account
  • Investigators suspect the ‘Amrit Sandhu’ profile is linked to radical preacher and Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, who is booked in the October 2024 killing of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau
  • Nau was shot dead on October 9 last year while returning from a village gurdwara and had run a vocal Facebook page critical of Singh’s ‘Waris Punjab De’ outfit
  • Police allege gangster-turned-terrorist Arshdeep Singh, alias Arsh Dalla, masterminded the operation and have arrested two assailants under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act
  • Officials say Tinder’s records could reveal communications or media that substantiate Singh’s role in the conspiracy behind the activist’s killing
