Intelligence data show street-level heroin prices have surged 50% since supply lines were cut

Overview

  • The Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign registered 8,344 FIRs and led to 14,734 arrests under the NDPS Act, including 13,038 street-level peddlers and 1,696 major suppliers.
  • Seizures over the past three months included 586 kg of heroin, 14 tonnes of poppy husk, 247 kg of opium, 253 kg of ganja and over 25.7 lakh intoxicant tablets, and police froze ₹74.27 crore in smuggler assets.
  • Supply-chain disruptions have driven up street-level heroin prices by 50% and synthetic drug costs by 40%, police said.
