Punjab Police Make Two Arrests, Identify 33 Suspects in Statewide Child Exploitation Raids

Forensic examination of 34 seized devices aims to uncover further offenders following actionable cyber tip-offs.

Overview

  • Operation CSEAM-4 covered 40 locations across 18 districts and three commissionerates based on tips from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre.
  • The arrested suspects, identified as Akash Babu of Khanna and Harpreet Singh of Morinda, Rupnagar, face charges under Sections 67 and 67B of the IT Act and Section 15 of the POCSO Act.
  • Police registered two FIRs and seized 34 mobile phones, all of which have been sent for forensic analysis to retrieve deleted content.
  • The State Cyber Crime Cell and CCPWC unit analysed digital evidence from WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Telegram to trace offenders’ online activity.
  • Officials expect additional arrests as forensic results guide ongoing probes into child sexual exploitation networks.
