Overview

  • Punjab Police arrested six smugglers—Vishal Singh, Didar Singh, Sevenbir Singh, Harjit Singh, Jaj Singh and Jasbir Kaur—after busting two international narco-trafficking cartels, recovering 4 kg of heroin and impounding an SUV used for transport.
  • One cartel was run by Sevenbir Singh under the guise of livestock trade, receiving heroin consignments via drones from Pakistan near Amritsar.
  • Jasbir Kaur was linked to the network of notorious smuggler Ranjeet alias Cheeta and maintained cross-border contacts for drug trafficking.
  • Officers dismantled a weapon-smuggling module by arresting Surajpal Singh and Arshdeep Singh in Tarn Taran and recovered three Glock 9mm pistols, four PX5 pistols and a .30 bore pistol.
  • Intelligence inputs revealed Pakistan-based handlers Rana and Sikander used drones to drop arms and ammunition consignments across the border.
