Overview

  • Punjab Police arrested Sandeep Singh alias Deepu, Harpreet Singh alias Jagga and Harmanpreet Singh alias Preet for their alleged roles in April’s grenade attacks on police posts.
  • Investigators say the Babbar Khalsa International cell was directed by foreign-based handlers Maninder Billa and Manu Agwan.
  • Two hand grenades and two pistols were recovered from the suspects during the July 20 joint Counter Intelligence–SSOC operation.
  • The accused confessed that associate Gurpreet Singh alias Babbu, lodged in Patiala Jail, masterminded both the Badshahpur and Ajimgarh assaults.
  • FIR No. 11 has been registered under the Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act as probes extend into broader network linkages and possible future plots.
