Punjab Police Dismantle ISI-Backed Arms and Drug Smuggling Network in Amritsar

Overview

  • Amritsar Rural Police, in coordination with central agencies, arrested five suspects linked to a trans-border smuggling module on July 28.
  • Authorities seized an AK Saiga 308 assault rifle with two magazines, two Glock pistols with four magazines, 90 AK and ten 9 mm cartridges, ₹7.5 lakh in drug proceeds, a car and three mobile phones.
  • Preliminary investigations confirmed the arrested individuals maintained direct links with Pakistan’s ISI operatives.
  • The consignment was intended for delivery to Navdeep Singh alias Nav Pandori, a close associate of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, highlighting a terror-gangster nexus.
  • A case has been registered under NDPS, Arms and BNS statutes at Lopoke police station and officials will verify and freeze any illicitly acquired assets.
