Punjab Police Bust ISI-Linked BKI Module in Batala, Seize Grenades and RDX IED

Investigators point to overseas BKI direction of the cache, prompting moves to secure a key suspect’s deportation.

  • Police recovered four SPL HGR-84 hand grenades, an RDX-based improvised explosive device of about 2 kg, and communication gear from village Balpura near Batala.
  • One local suspect, identified as Ravinder Pal Singh alias Ravi, was arrested, while a second accused has been identified and is being hunted, officials said.
  • The cache was concealed in bushes off a road toward Amritsar, including a Baofeng dual-band transceiver and a D-shaped headset used with walkie-talkies.
  • Preliminary findings link the consignment to UK-based BKI operative Nishan Singh alias Nishan Jodia, allegedly acting under Pakistan-based Harvinder Singh Rinda backed by the ISI, according to police.
  • A case was registered under the Explosive Substances Act and relevant UAPA sections were added, with Punjab Police initiating MEA and Birmingham consulate processes to seek Nishan Jodia’s deportation.
