Punjab Police Arrest Mumbai Murder Suspects, Seize IED in Batala Terror Bust

Police cite preliminary links to overseas handlers directing local operatives.

Overview

  • Counter-Intelligence Jalandhar and SBS Nagar police, with Mumbai Police support, arrested two alleged shooters of the Lucky Patial–Davinder Bambiha network in Mumbai.
  • The suspects, identified as Karan Ganger, 25, and Jaskarandeep Singh, alias Kallu, 23, are accused in the July 2 killing of Hardeep Singh in Pojewal, SBS Nagar, with an FIR registered on July 3 under BNS and Arms Act provisions.
  • DGP Gaurav Yadav said the pair acted with US-based Jaskaran Singh, alias Kannu, and that their arrests thwarted further targets allegedly planned by foreign-based handlers.
  • In Barnala, police detained four Bambiha associates after an exchange of fire at a checkpoint and recovered a Turkish-made Zigana pistol, three other pistols, live cartridges, and a car.
  • In Batala, police recovered four hand grenades and a two‑kg RDX-based IED, arrested one suspect with another absconding, and said a preliminary probe points to UK-based BKI operative Nishan Singh and Pakistan-based Harvinder Singh Rinda backed by the ISI.
