Punjab Police Arrest 7 in AAP Sarpanch Killing as AGTF Detains 3 in Kabaddi Promoter Murder

  • Sukhraj Singh, known as Gunga, and Karamjit Singh were arrested in Raipur and placed on transit remand until January 14 before being flown to Amritsar.
  • Five additional suspects in the sarpanch case were held in Punjab for providing vehicles, shelter, weapons and a motorcycle under directions attributed to alleged mastermind Prabh Dasuwal, believed to be in Portugal.

  • In the December 15 Mohali killing of kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria, the AGTF arrested shooters Karan Pathak and Tarandeep Singh and an accomplice, Akashdeep, in Howrah, with Akashdeep described as a relative of foreign-based handler Amar Khabe.
  • Punjab Police detailed extensive CCTV and digital-footprint tracking across several states to trace escape routes, as the High Court set a January 15 appearance for the DGP over recurring public killings.
