Punjab Orders Provincewide Freeze of Banned TLP’s Assets

The move enforces the October proscription by cutting off the group’s access to assets.

Overview

  • The Punjab Home Department issued notifications directing commissioners and deputy commissioners to execute the freezing order immediately.
  • Secretary Home Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi sent instructions to the Board of Revenue, the housing and cooperative secretaries, and other agencies to ensure coordinated implementation.
  • The order covers properties, bank accounts, and all movable or immovable holdings registered to TLP to prevent misuse.
  • Authorities were told to submit a compliance report detailing identified and frozen assets by November 15.
  • Separately, the province is transferring control of 177 seminaries and 330 mosques linked to TLP to Tanzeem-ul-Madaris Ahl-e-Sunnat after an earlier handover of seminaries to Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rahman, with written assurances of nonviolence.
