Overview

  • Unveiled by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, the ₹145.26 crore project expands Mohali’s facility from 10 MGD to 15 MGD capacity.
  • The plant incorporates advanced nutrient removal technology and a pioneering 5 MGD ultra-filtration tertiary treatment unit, the first of its kind in Punjab.
  • An on-site 1 MW solar array has been installed to power operations and reduce the facility’s carbon footprint.
  • Treated water will be reused for irrigation, road cleaning and toilet flushing to conserve fresh groundwater resources.
  • Punjab’s government plans to replicate this model across 166 cities beginning in December as part of a mission-mode infrastructure upgrade.
