- Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif approved the Punjab Protection of Ownership of Immovable Property Ordinance 2025, formally launching a new system to resolve land possession disputes.
- Every district will form a six-member Dispute Resolution Committee led by the deputy commissioner with the district police officer among its members.
- All private land possession cases must first be heard by the DRCs, which are mandated to decide each case within 90 days before any approach to civil courts.
- Appeals will go to a Special Tribunal headed by a retired High Court judge, which is also bound to deliver a decision within 90 days.
- Officials reviewed using Para Force or PERA for enforcement and adding digital records and live-streamed proceedings to increase transparency.
