Punjab Launches 3-Day Health Campaign Across 2,303 Flood-Hit Villages

Officials aim to prevent post-flood outbreaks using clinics, home visits, fogging, rapid diagnostics.

Overview

  • Daily free medical camps are running September 14–16 in every affected village, with Aam Aadmi Clinics hosting in 596 locations and temporary sites set up in 1,707 public spaces.
  • Over 11,103 ASHA workers have begun weekly door-to-door visits to screen residents and distribute kits with mosquito repellent, ORS, paracetamol, chlorine tablets, antiseptics and soap.
  • A 21-day vector-control drive starts with indoor and outdoor fogging and larvicidal spraying across all affected areas, with the state procuring thousands of fogging machines.
  • More than 550 ambulances, including 180 government vehicles and 254 arranged through the Indian Medical Association, are on standby to move patients and support camp operations.
  • Civil surgeons and block SMOs are supervising field work and have been directed to ensure supplies of 85 essential drugs, 23 consumables, malaria RDT kits and thermal scanners at all sites.
