Punjab Food Authority Destroys 60,000kg Expired Chicken, Registers FIR in Major Lahore Raid
Police leaders have been told to pick up hundreds of absconders in food-adulteration cases after persistent enforcement gaps.

- In Ferozewala near Lahore, PFA teams seized and destroyed more than 60,000 kilograms of expired ready-to-cook chicken alongside 400 kilograms of fungus-infested spices and vegetables at a cold storage facility.
- Officials imposed a Rs1 million fine, registered an FIR, and arrested two suspects accused of mixing expired stock with fresh supplies for delivery to major food outlets.
- DG Muhammad Asim Javaid reported unhygienic conditions, improper storage, expired spices used for marination, and even dead rats on the premises, calling the practices a grave public-health risk.
- In a separate sweep in Chiniot, district teams inspected 109 food points, including 42 milk trucks, destroyed substandard items, issued reform notices, and levied Rs82,000 in fines.
- After a PFA letter flagged more than 600 proclaimed offenders across Punjab, the Additional IGP Operations instructed district police, including Rawalpindi’s CPO, to make immediate arrests.
