Punjab Cracks Cross-Border Heroin Modules With 25.9 Kg Seizure Near Amritsar

Investigators link the modules to drone drops directed by a foreign-based boss.

Overview

  • A BSF–ANTF joint operation near Beharwal arrested Sajan Singh alias Billa with 25.9 kg of heroin and a 9mm Glock pistol, with police saying the consignment was dropped by a drone at Daleke a day earlier.
  • Police attribute the network to foreign-based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Jatt, a proclaimed offender with at least 21 cases, who allegedly coordinated with Pakistan-based smugglers via social media as extradition efforts proceed.
  • In a separate case, Amritsar Commissionerate Police arrested Yasin Mohammed with 7.1 kg of heroin linked to a Moga-based syndicate run by Jagpreet Singh alias Jagga after a drone drop in the Ajnala sector.
  • Two additional operations netted six suspects, including two women and a government school teacher, with 9.066 kg of heroin, with police alleging pick-ups from pre-decided drone drop points and direct contacts with Pakistan handlers.
  • Cases have been registered under the NDPS and Arms Acts, including FIR No. 252 at ANTF SAS Nagar, as multi-agency teams pursue further arrests under the state’s Yudh Nashian Virudh campaign.
