Punjab Crackdown Nets 43 Pistols in Fazilka as Amritsar Heroin Probe Hits 20.1 Kg

Officials describe joint, intelligence-led actions targeting Pakistan-linked modules using drones and messaging apps.

Overview

  • BSF, counter-intelligence and SSOC teams arrested two men near Fazilka’s border and seized 27 pistols, 54 magazines and 470 rounds, identifying the accused as Mangal Singh and Gurmeet Singh.
  • Hours later, a separate BSFCIA Fazilka operation in Theh Kalandar recovered 16 pistols, 38 magazines and 1,847 rounds with two more suspects detained.
  • Amritsar commissionerate police, probing an earlier bust, arrested four additional suspects and recovered 12 kg of heroin, taking the case total to about 20.1 kg.
  • Investigators said 10 kg was dug out from an earthen pit at Gurbhej Singh’s home and 2.006 kg with a .30-bore pistol was found hidden in a mattress at Gurjit Singh’s house, with an NDPS FIR registered.
  • In a separate Amritsar case, six members of an arms module were held with six weapons and ₹5.75 lakh in alleged hawala funds, and police said further arrests and recoveries are expected.
