Punjab Counter-Intelligence Busts BKI Module in Jalandhar, Seizes 2.5 Kg RDX IED

Police say the two suspects followed directions from UK-based handlers linked to Harwinder Singh Rinda.

  • Counter Intelligence Jalandhar arrested Gurjinder Singh (alias Rinku) and Deewan/Diwan Singh (alias Nikku) during an operation in the Guru Nanakpura area.
  • Officers recovered an RDX-based improvised explosive device weighing about 2.5 kg plus a remote control, and impounded a motorcycle used by the pair.
  • Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said the module was run by UK-based handlers Nishan Jaurian and Adesh Jamarai on directions from BKI figure Harwinder Singh Rinda.
  • An FIR (No. 58, dated October 8) was registered at SSOC Amritsar under sections of the UAPA and the Explosive Substances Act.
  • Police said preliminary investigation indicates the device was meant for a targeted attack, and teams are tracing backward and forward linkages to identify intended recipients.
