Overview

  • As of July 10, Bhakra, Pong and Ranjit Sagar dams held water levels well below their 2023 flood-day heights, preserving substantial safety buffers.
  • The state has earmarked ₹204.5 crore for flood protection and initiated 599 projects under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund, MGNREGA and departmental allocations.
  • More than 4,766 kilometres of drains have been desilted, embankments reinforced and 8.76 lakh EC bags procured for flood response.
  • Control rooms are active across Punjab, emergency response units stand ready and real-time river and drain monitoring has been established in vulnerable zones.
  • An Assembly motion pinpointed 12–15 embankment hotspots at risk of breach after illegal mining weakened riverbanks.
