Punjab CM Mann Dedicates Rebuilt Multania ROB in Bathinda, Approves Janta Nagar Project

Tendering has begun for the ₹50.86 crore Janta Nagar overbridge to ease chronic congestion.

Overview

  • Mann formally opened the reconstructed Multania railway overbridge, which has been in public use since December 23, 2025.
  • The Multania span cost ₹38.08 crore, runs slightly over a kilometre, and now carries a 34.5‑foot carriageway widened from 23 feet.
  • The structure crosses the Ambala, Delhi, Sirsa and Bikaner railway lines, replacing a nearly 35‑year‑old bridge found inadequate for current traffic.
  • The government approved a new Janta Nagar ROB budgeted at ₹50.86 crore with a proposed 650‑metre length, a 31‑foot carriageway, and service roads widened from 18 to 33 feet.
  • Mann said tendering for Janta Nagar is underway with construction expected to start soon, and the area beneath the Multania bridge will be developed into public sports and recreation facilities.
