Overview

  • Officials were ordered to remain on the ground around the clock, with leaves cancelled as the state runs rescue and relief on a war footing in Pathankot and Gurdaspur.
  • Ranjit Sagar Dam was reported above 527 metres with heavy inflows, prompting large releases that swelled the Ravi and damaged sections of the river’s Dhussi bundhs.
  • Multi‑agency teams from the Army, BSF, NDRF and SDRF are conducting evacuations, including helicopter missions that rescued 11 BSF personnel from Nikka BOP, seven civilians to Taragarh, and two from Shahpur Kandi.
  • About 15 villages in Dinanagar tehsil were inundated and roughly 70 people were moved from Jagochak Tanda, with relief camps and community kitchens operating at Marara, Bahmani, Gahlari’s government school, Gurdwara Tahli Sahib, Taragarh and Narot Jaimal Singh.
  • After 1.5 lakh cusecs were released from Ranjit Sagar, Madhopur headworks opened all gates and released about 1.75 lakh cusecs, restricting bridge traffic and leaving authorities reporting heavy impact across roughly 80 villages between the river and the international border; a family of seven in Taas remained reported trapped.
